Description

Modernisation of selected sections of the Brno – Přerov railway line, which is set to become part of the country’s high-speed rail network which will be further integrated into the EU high-speed rail system. Along the modernised and upgraded line, trains will be able to run at speeds of up to 200 km/h, double the current maximum.

History

Because the project is highly complex, Správa železnic (the Czech Railway Administration) broken the line down into five separate construction stages to distribute the immense budget. Nezamyslice–Kojetín (Section 4): CZK 7.75 billion (~€310 million). Construction on this first high-speed segment launched in mid-2025.Kojetín–Přerov (Section 5): CZK 13.4 billion (~€547.5 million). Construction started late 2025 to add a second track and eliminate 14 level crossings.Brno–Nezamyslice (Sections 1–3): Estimated over CZK 50 billion (~€2 billion). These final three remaining sections are bundled together. They are slated to be built using a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to secure private capital for the remainder of the total budget
