Minsk National Airport upgrade

Description

China Eximbank initially set out a plan to expand the Minsk National Airport Reconstruction Project. The project was cancelled at a later stage. However, Minsk remains a critical node along the NELB route of BRI.

History

In October 2010, China Eximbank signed a $600 million USD loan agreement with the Government of Belarus to cover reconstruction of the terminal at Minsk National airport. However, the Government of Belarus rejected the China National Precision Machinery Import & Export Corporation bid and completed the project with Belarusian contractors on March 3, 2019. Chinese funding to this project was cancelled.
