"This positions Dekheila Port as a key transshipment hub in the Mediterranean region for international trade.
The project is expected to create more than 2,000 direct and indirect job opportunities."
Description
The project involves the development of a world-class container terminal equipped with the latest technologies, in partnership with the largest shipping line globally. The terminal will be constructed along a 1,200-meter quay (part of the total 1,680-meter length of Berth 100), with a draft of 18 meters and an approximate area of 840,000 square meters. It is designed to handle an annual throughput capacity of up to 1.5 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), the majority of which will be transshipment containers.
History
The APA handed over the terminal's superstructure, long-term operations, and management to a global maritime consortium led by Hutchison Ports alongside MSC and COSCO
